JKA WF MALTA at the JKA European Championships 2025
UNYP Arena in Prague, Czech RepublicOn the 10th of May 2025, top JKA karate practitioners from across Europe gathered at the UNYP Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, to compete in the prestigious 27th JKA European Championships.
This year’s event showcased fierce competition across multiple categories and age groups, reflecting the technical excellence, discipline, and spirit that define JKA karate.
We are proud to recognize the outstanding efforts of the seven JKA WF MALTA members who represented our country at this high-level competition: Paul Falzon, Yanes Nocilla, Darren Bianco, Yuki Nocilla, Graziella Rocco, Kurt Buttigieg, and Kraylee Micallef. -

August 2025 Gasshuku with JKA HQ Instructor Hirose Hikaru Sensei
De La Salle CollegeIt is with great pleasure that we announce that JKA HQ Instructor Hirose Hikaru Sensei, the 2024 All Japan and JKA World Kumite Champion, will be coming to Malta for the first time in August!
All JKA and non JKA members are welcome to join us on the 30th and 31st of August at De La Salle College. -

Gasshuku with Izumiya Seizo Sensei 2025
JKA WF Malta has the privilege of hosting Izumiya Seizo Sensei, 8th Dan and Senior Managing Director of JKA HQ, on the 29th and 30th of November, 2025. Join us for two days of intensive training and learning with one of JKA’s most senior instructors. During these two days, JKA Dan and License Examinations will also be held for those who are eligible.

3rd Mid-Winter Training – Kangeiko 2025
Between January 2nd and 4th, 2026, JKA WF Malta will hold its 3rd Mid-Winter Training - Kangeiko, a Japanese Budo Tradition of training early in the morning during the coldest time of the year. JKA WF Malta encourages it's students to join and have fun in this challenge together.

4 JKA WF MALTA members at the 6th JKA Spring Camp in Bad Camberg, Germany
Bad Camberg, GermanyDuring the month of March, 4 team members from JKA Nakama and Seishūkan Dojo - 誠修館道場 had the pleasure to train with two exceptional instructors.
The JKA Spring Camp at Bad Camberg, Germany was led by Hirayama Yuko Sensei (7th Dan) who portrayed a high karate level. The training was focused on both kumite and kata where emphasis was given on correct posture and speed. The members also had the opportunity to join a dojo session with Shimizu Keigo Sensei (5th Dan) at Dojo Yamato Düsseldorf e.V., Germany. Focus was given on the straight projection and direction of power during kumite. -
JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon at International Traditional Karate Stage, Inverigo, Italy
Inverigo, ItalyOn the 21st – 22nd March 2026, JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon participated in the international karate stage in Inverigo, Italy lead by Naito Takeshi Sensei (8th Dan JKA and chief instructor of JKA Italy) and Hakizume Kaishi Sensei (4th Dan JKA HQ instructor and current Kata world champion). Several karatekas from around the world came together during this seminar to train hard and grow their karate skills.

JKA WF MALTA Proudly Represents Malta at the 2026 JKA European Championships
Bergen, NorwayJKA WF MALTA represented the island at the 2026 JKA European Karate Championships in Bergen, Norway, held from 8th to 9th May. Competing against top European Shotokan Karate athletes, the Maltese team showcased strong performance, discipline, and team spirit.
