  • 3rd Mid-Winter Training – Kangeiko 2025

    Between January 2nd and 4th, 2026, JKA WF Malta held it’s 3rd Mid-Winter Training – Kangeiko, a Japanese Budo Tradition of training early in the morning during the coldest time of the year.
    Certificates were given to those group of students that participated in their first, second and third Kangeiko

  • 4th All Malta JKA National Championships, January 2026

    The 4th All Malta JKA National Championships were successfully held on Sunday, 18th January 2026, with participants from all JKA clubs across Malta competing in a day of excellent karate and sportsmanship. We wish all qualifying athletes every success in National Squad Training as they begin their preparations selection of the National Team who will represent Malta at the upcoming JKA European Championships in Bergen, Norway. We would like to extends our congratulations to all competitors, coaches, referees, officials, volunteers, and supporters whose commitment and professionalism contributed to the success of this year's National Championships.

  • JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon at the annual winter Kangeiko at the JKA HQ , Tokyo

    Between the 26th January and 1st February, JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon, had the honour of participating in the annual winter Kangeiko at the Japan Karate Association Headquarters in Tokyo — an intense, humbling, and unforgettable experience. Each day began with early morning runs through the streets of Tokyo from 7:00–8:00am, followed by rigorous kihon and kata sessions at Headquarters. Training alongside senior instructors and learning directly from some of the highest-ranking professionals within the JKA was truly inspiring.

  • 4 JKA WF MALTA members at the 6th JKA Spring Camp in Bad Camberg, Germany

    During the month of March, 4 team members from JKA Nakama and Seishūkan Dojo - 誠修館道場 had the pleasure to train with two exceptional instructors.
    The JKA Spring Camp at Bad Camberg, Germany was led by Hirayama Yuko Sensei (7th Dan) who portrayed a high karate level. The training was focused on both kumite and kata where emphasis was given on correct posture and speed. The members also had the opportunity to join a dojo session with Shimizu Keigo Sensei (5th Dan) at Dojo Yamato Düsseldorf e.V., Germany. Focus was given on the straight projection and direction of power during kumite.

  • JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon at International Traditional Karate Stage, Inverigo, Italy

    Inverigo, Italy

    On the 21st – 22nd March 2026, JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon participated in the international karate stage in Inverigo, Italy lead by Naito Takeshi Sensei (8th Dan JKA and chief instructor of JKA Italy) and Hakizume Kaishi Sensei (4th Dan JKA HQ instructor and current Kata world champion). Several karatekas from around the world came together during this seminar to train hard and grow their karate skills.

  • 2 JKA WF Malta Instructors Complete Intensive Training in Japan

    Between the 31st March and 10th April, JKA WF Malta Chief Instructor Paul Falzon Sensei and Instructor Leanne Falzon Sensei travelled to Japan to undertake an intensive period of training at the JKA Headquarters Dojo. Throughout their stay, they had the privilege of training under several distinguished JKA Headquarters instructors, including Naka Sensei, Hirayama Sensei, Hidemoto Kurihara Sensei, and Osato Sensei, gaining valuable technical knowledge and insight into JKA's highest standards of karate instruction. In addition to their training at JKA Headquarters, they also trained at JKA Jonan Shotojuku Dojo in Sangenjaya under the guidance of Ogata Sensei.

  • JKA WF Malta Develops NGO Administration Platform with SIS Scheme Support

    JKA WF Malta, a non-profit sports organisation, has successfully developed a dedicated online administration platform with the support of funding received through the Small Initiatives Support Scheme (SIS), managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS). The platform, developed under the working title Project Overseer, was designed to address the administrative challenges faced by Maltese NGOs in managing their day-to-day operations. Built specifically around the needs of JKA WF Malta's multi-club structure, the system provides a centralised hub for managing member records, membership fee statuses, payment schedules, and receipting, all within a secure, role-based online environment.   • International JKA Karate Seminar in Malta with Hirayama Sensei

    JKA WF Malta welcomed Hirayama Sensei, 7th Dan JKA Instructor, to Malta from 22–26 July for an exceptional week of traditional JKA Karate training. The programme featured advanced kata sessions for brown and black belts, a dedicated instructors’ class, and an International JKA Karate Seminar attended by 104 karateka from Malta, Italy, England, Sweden and Hungary.

  • Friendly Summer Competition 2026

    JKA WF Malta invites all local JKA members to a friendly Summer Karate Competition on 30 August, bringing together karateka from JKA WF Malta and JKA Malta clubs for an enjoyable day of Kata and Kumite. The event offers participants an opportunity to test their skills, gain valuable competition experience and strengthen friendships within our JKA karate community.
