On Friday 15th January 2016, SKA black belts accompanied Sensei Edward Aquilina, SKA Chief Instructor, together with Sensei Kenneth Farrugia 3rd Dan and Sensei David Salem Rizzo 3rd Dan to Bologna, Italy for training seminars organised by the Japan Karate Association in Italy.
The first black belt training session was held on Saturday 16th January at the Centro Sportivo Ortignola in Imola, outskirts of Bologna. We were warmly received by Sensei Naito Takeshi, JKA Italy’s Chief Instructor, who introduced us to his Senior black belts and course attendants. Training was led by Sensei Naito himself, focusing on fundamental hip movements in Kihon combinations, Kata and Kumite.
The second mass training session on Sunday morning was held at La Spezia, a 250 Kilometer drive from our previous location in Imola. We were again introduced to the Italian audience by Sensei Naito. A gruelling 3-hour session followed, with SKA being noted for its demonstration of fighting spirit and powerful technique.
SKA would like to express its gratitude to JKA Italy for their hospitality and courteous welcoming during our stay. A great start to another year of Hard training!
Next event on our SKA Calendar: Training seminar with Sensei Roy Tomlin from JKA England coming up next weekend between the 12th and 14th February
