Busy week for SKA!
Black belts from Shotokan Karate-Do Association and several assisting brown belts, participated in a number of events this week, to raise awareness of this unique discipline and the opportunities available to learn and benefit from the way of Karate.
Two demonstrations were held on Tuesday 30th September and Wednesday 1st October 2014 at MCAST Fresher’s Week. A large crowd gathered as we started a light warm up in the middle of the MCAST grounds under the scorching autumn sun. A performance of kihon and kumite was followed by an interactive demo trial with focus mitts wherein a good number of onlookers attempted a few simple techniques.
Friday 3rd October saw us performing at the University’s Fresher’s Week. Again we were welcomed by an interested crowd, students, parents, staff, and the odd passersby who stopped for a second look and stayed for the whole demonstration.
The most awaited demonstration was yet to come, on Saturday 4th October 2014 at the Notte Bianca. With bare feet, on a rough tarmac sloping ground and blinding floodlights, we proudly gave a varied display of kihon, kata, kumite, breaking and multiple opponent bunkai. A big crowd was taken by surprise by our demonstration as they watched amused and impressed by an excellent exhibition of technique, power and control. After the show, we also had the opportunity to speak at length with an enthusiastic crowd who showed great interest in our Karate and our association’s principles, all fruit of hard work, good attitude and commitment.
Yet again, an outstanding performance by all!
