DESCRIPTION:JKA MALTA SKA Training in Cantu Milan\nBetween November 15th and November 17th a record 38 Members from JKA MALTA SKA traveled to Milan with Sensei Edward Aquilina (JKA Chief Instructor of Malta) for training with the exceptional Izumiya Sensei 7th Dan JKA HQ instructor and Naitou Sensei 7th Dan JKA Italy Chief Instructor. Kihon\, Kata and Kumite training focused on proper use of the lower body with great emphasis on the hip to increase speed and power of technique. A strong and dynamic base for an even sharper and powerful technique \nOn behalf of all our members we would like to thank JKA Italy for their constant hospitality\, welcome and friendship! DESCRIPTION:Excellent Results for JKA MALTA SKA Participants at JKA Cup in Germany \n\nJKA MALTA SKA would like to congratulate 4 of its members who competed at the renowned JKA Cup in Germany that is held every year by Hideo Ochi Sensei 9th Dan JKA Germany and JKA Europe Chief Instructor.  \nOur members fought with pride to represent Malta and JKA MALTA SKA with Paul Falzon winning 2nd place in  Men’s Kumite\, Leanne Falzon 1st Place Kumite and 2nd place Kata in Females over 30\, Yuki Nocilla 1st Place Female Kumite 21- 29 years category and Yanes Nocilla 2nd place in Team Kumite after being selected to fight for one of JKA Germany’s teams.  \nThis was a well sought for event with renowned participant representatives’ groups also coming from JKA Belgium\, JKA France and JKA Czech Republic. \nJKA MALTA SKA is the current Maltese National representative for JKA World Federation JAPAN Karate in Tokyo who strives to continue to spread the true traditional\, authentic Budo Karate \nJKA MALTA SKA would like to sincerely thank Ochi Sensei and all JKA Germany for inviting us to participate at this prestigious international event and for the kind hospitality\, their budo spirit and friendship shown to all our members. \nOur members also wish to thank JKA MALTA SKA Sensei Edward Aquilina 5th Dan National Chief Instructor of JKA in Malta for his constant exceptional instruction of true traditional Budo Karate to all our dedicated and committed students in Malta.

DESCRIPTION:Between the 18th and 20th October\, Shotokan Karate-do Association Malta hosted world-renowned Shinji Akita Sensei\, 6th Dan\, to lead a training seminar for the first time in Malta. Amongst the 100 Maltese participants\, were also international guests from Belgium and Scotland who came to Malta specifically to join us for this special event.  \nThe three-day seminar was focused on intriguing concepts in Kihon\, Kumite and Kata with special emphasis on using body biomechanics to enhance the effectiveness of technique regardless of age or gender. \n\n\n\n\nAkita Sensei’s passion for deep technical knowledge was effortlessly conveyed to all students using simple\, practical exercises that lead to immediate improvement in effectiveness of technique and a gradual progression in mindful bodywork\, integrating proper posture\, shime and spirit to produce an even more powerful technique. \nShinji Akita Sensei started his karate journey at the age of 12 under Matsuda sensei and Aragane sensei then joining the famous Takudai Karate Club at Takushoku University\, Japan\, training under Tsuyama Sensei. DESCRIPTION:A great experience for SKA members having the opportunity to participate in an intensive 3 day Karate training camp delivered by Sensei Dave Hazard 7th Dan\, Chairman and chief instructor to the Academy of Shotokan Karate (ASK)\, and Sensei Paul Herbert 6th Dan\, Chief instructor and founder at Kiryoku Shotokan Karate Dojo (affiliated to ASK)\, both having direct link with the late\, ever-so inspirational Keinosuke Enoeda Sensei 9th Dan. \nKarate felt most alive in Sensei Hazard and Sensei Herbert unique way of teaching\, through years of practice and authentic life experience. SUMMARY:JKA MALTA SKA Training Camp - Malta
DESCRIPTION:Between the 18th and 19th of May 2019\, JKA MALTA SKA held its Annual Spring Training Camp with record participation of over 100 members from SKA MCAST Paola\, Tarxien SKA Kids\, SKA Nakama\, SKA Ghaxaq and SKA Kenshinkan Branch Dojos. \nTraining was led by JKA MALTA SKA Chief Instructor Sensei Edward Aquilina\, 5th Dan JKA. Dynamic sessions were focussed on developing effectiveness in fundamental Kihon\, overlapping into Ippon and Jiyu Kumite combinations and ultimately applying the same mental intent concepts into Kata. \nReferee and Main Judge sessions were also held for all grades to enable standardisation\, continued improvement in experience and better understanding of correct technique in daily practice. \nJKA MALTA SKA would like to sincerely thank Sensei Edward Aquilina for his constant\, outstanding instruction and congratulate all members who persistently exerted themselves and succeeded in completing all sessions despite the physical hardship and level of difficulty.
